Literature What is it? English isn't just one of those subjects where you can memorize an entire textbook ad expect to get a good grade, you need a good mind as well English literature is the study of written works, novels, poetry plays and more. As long as it has something to do with english it'll most likely in your class. English by far is the most important subject if you want to go to a good university or something. In class, you would typically do a project on shakespeare or someone else who impacted the english language. You would typically need to write essays in long form paragraphs and do book reports. To sum it all up, english isn't just about memorizing vocabulary or grammar, you need to understand how to put it all together to get an A! College essays College is perhaps one of the most important things in teh entire world as it decides your future, job and possibly ur friend/partner. To get into a good colleage one of the things you need is good grades, but of course grades arent the most importatn but they're still slitghtly important. College essays heavily weight the option if youre getting into the college you want. I've seen many people 4.0 gpa, 1600 sat, and extraordinary extracurriculars but they still can get into no more than 2 ivy leagues. This is the case because of their college essays, most of them write crappy essays that only talk about themselves and most are extremely generic for a harvard applicant. The typical I wwant to help people so i started a non profit or its a 5-6 figure buisness all by themsleves. People think extra cricullars and grades are all you need to get into a good uni but i've seen someone with ok grades with ok grades get into a top 20 school just because of their college essay. FIRST PEOPLES What is english first peoples? First Peoples English is simply how many Indigenous people in Canada and the U.S. talk. It’s not weird english, it is a neat mix of regular english with the grammar, and words from old Indigenous languages. It shows off their history and culture, helps people stay linked to their elders and background. It might sound different than school English, but it’s a strong way for people to keep their identity alive in everyday speech. Will first peoples english help with getting a job? Jobs make money and sense everyone like the money you will want the big house, the big dog, the big ship and big wealth and the big connections, but that all depends on the subject you decide to major in So far, having first peoples english isn't really anything special, it just about gets the same jobs you can accept if you graduate from community college. In conclusion it doesn't really stand out among the other subjects but it's still cool to have on. What they do in class In math you do math, in english you write, in physical education teachers educate you physically but in english first peoples, it's not entirely what you think. First a big part of FPE(first peoples english) is reading stories and poems by Indigenous authors, learn about Indigenous cultures and history, practice speaking and writing. Students will do group discussions, short presentations, and simple projects that connect language skills to real community stuff. Why learn this? First of foremost english first peoples is completely optional and is NOT required anywhere. It is a completely optional course where you can learn about anything, but why take this? First of all, learning first peoples english is a way of defending them as back in the early days, they were kicked out of their home and their children thrown into a school where half of the kids died. They wer stripped of their language and cultural making them vulnerable. Almost all the kids that made it back basically forgot everything that they used to know and most are taking therapy. In residential schools they were abused and starved on a dailly occasions and would be beaten brutally if a question was answered wrongly In conclusion this isn't just some small course, its history and we should learn it to acknowledge the first peoples of the land and this is the best way of saying sorry to them.
